A friend of Viv and Avril’s just sent us an e-mail about this fantastic gel and where to get it:
Just to let anyone know that there is a fantastic gel available that really worked during my Mum’s radiotherapy treatment to her head and neck. It is from the Bristol Cancer Centre (http://www.canhelpnow.com/) and is called Radiance skin gel, and you can buy it on-line or over the phone (they did run out once so don’t get low on stocks). It seemed a little pricey at first, but my Mum had such delicate skin and had to have such intense radiotherapy that we thought it was worth a go…and it was worth every penny. The stuff is so mild that you can use it inside your mouth, and she didn’t get a single blister over the 6 weeks. The doctors were sceptical and said she should use aqueous cream, but after treatment noone could believe how good her skin was. Also, the gel really helped when she could no longer open her mouth to even clean her teeth and couldn’t tolerate water, providing just a little relief around her gums and tongue which were so dry.
